This season is the perfect occasion for a soothing dessert like baked custard. Smooth and creamy with a hint of sweetness and the amazing fragrance of vanilla. Custard is a truly wonderful comfort food that can only be improved when accompanied by a steaming cup of coffee and great music.
ingredients:
1. Oil for greasing dish
2. 1 1/2 Cups KDD Milk
3. 1/2 Cup KDD Thick Cream
4. 3 Eggs
5. 1/2 Cup Caster Sugar
6. 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Essence
7. Ground Nutmeg, for sprinkling
preparation:
1. Turn on oven to moderate 180 C. Brush oven proof dish with oil.
2. Whisk KDD Milk, KDD Thick Cream, eggs, sugar and vanilla in mixing bowl for 2 minutes.
3. Pour mixture into the greased dish and sprinkle the top with nutmeg.
4. Put the custard dish into a large baking dish to come halfway up the sides. Bake for 20 minutes, then turn down to moderately slow 160 C. Bake for 20 minutes more or until custard is set and a knife comes out clean when pushed into the center. Take dish out of the water immediately, wearing oven mitts. Serve the baked custard warm or cold, with fruit if desired. Enjoy.
